Communicating Across Cultures in Remote Teams

What does effective, inclusive communication look like across global teams?
This project helps learners develop cross-cultural awareness and digital etiquette in remote work contexts. The workshop guides participants through scenarios involving time miscommunications, disagreement, and feedback styles — using activities that build empathy, understanding, and clarity in virtual collaboration.

DESIGN NOTES
Human-Centered Design: Content was built around real remote team challenges like language tone, meeting rhythms, and unseen biases.
Tools Used: Workshop module and Facilitator guide in Canva.
Instructional Strategy: Each scenario emphasizes empathy and reflection before providing direct strategies — using compare/contrast analysis and discussion questions..
Visual Design: Inclusive icons, global themes, and muted color schemes support the tone of cross-cultural respect and awareness.
REFLECTION/ IMPACT
Workplace Use: Participants gained clearer frameworks for approaching misunderstandings and using more inclusive language in emails and meetings.
Iteration Ideas: I’d like to add self-assessment or journaling components and expand representation of different communication norms.
What I Learned: “Effective” communication is often culture-bound; raising awareness helps global teams collaborate with more patience and precision.
